Getting Started

Schools often wonder where to start with Numicon. Whilst it is a whole school program, many schools like to trial it in one area of the school first, evaluate its effectiveness then extend it across the school.

It is important that teachers receive adequate professional development to support the implementation of the program. Where possible, a team of classes should be introducing it together to enable effective planning, professional dialogue and support.

Show and tell sessions

We offer a 30 minute complimentary 'show-and-tell' session to schools, either face-to-face or online, designed to enable you to see some of the Numicon resources and how they work. This is a great session for leadership and maths coordinators to gauge if Numicon looks like a good fit for your school . . . we're sure it will be!

Resources Proposal

With over 100 Numicon products its sometimes tricky to know where to start.

Let us help you by preparing a resources proposal for your school based on year levels, number of classes, student numbers and your school's preferred approach. Please email your details to rachel@skyrocketmaths.com.au or phone 0414 888 270.

What resources do we need to get started?

Students from Foundation to year 6 will each need an individual box of Numicon shapes, a 100 baseboard and pegs shared with a partner and have access to a range of number tracks and number lines, Cuisenaire rods and additional items depending on the year level including extra 1 and 10 shapes, spinners and dice etc. Teachers will need Numicon Teacher Handbooks to support the effective implementation of Numicon resources and teacher PD delivered either online or face-to-face.

We're happy to prepare a resources proposal as described above to summarise resources for your students.
